2025 Summary

Here's my summary of my trips in 2025. The chart shows month by months of the miles covered. The 2025 Mileage Chart by Month.
When January came it was cold and with what seemed like engineering works on routes I fancied going out on meant I was a little less than interested in going out. Plus the fact the family still had some health issues so I was more focused on them than the hobby. The wife was taking a trip to see our daughter for a girls shopping trip so I decided to go off and clear the Sheffield Supeertram. Luckily neither of the Sheffield clubs had a game on.
Feburary rrived, the cold continued. LNER were diverting their Edingburgh services via Yarm and the Durham Coast Line to Newcastle. Many moons ago I was on a divert that took me down the now removed Leamside Line. Stupidly when (a number o years later) I makrked my atlas that I had done the Durham Coast Line. This was a good opotunity to finally clear it off and also the line through Yarm. The final trp of the month I finally clears the line between Chester and Warrington and also the once a day train to Heysham Port.

A little bit of East Anglia in March but it was April when it all took off again.
THe wife and I went to Swansea and we went to Barry and Tenby before we traversed the Heart of Wales line. It truely is a lovely line and in my top five lines. We stayed in Shrewsbury (The Shrewsbury Hotel is well worth it) overnight. Then the next day headed home via Birmingham. The next day I ticked off a couple of London Overground lines.

June and July were pretty much a limited in the number of new lines despite racking up 1261 miles. The only new line in June was the line to Cromer but I was thwarted in getting to Sheringham due to weather conditions. In July I managed to tick off line from Tenby to Pembroke Dock. Pembroke Dock station is old and to TfW's shame they have left it to go to the seagulls who have soiled the platforms when I was there. Hopefully they've cleaned it up by now.

August started amazingly as a mate managed to get me a ticket to The Greatest Gathering. What a day! What an event! For me the highlights were 89001, the 'Peaks', 69016 and 37501 (I remember it the first time around in that livery). I finally managed to clear the last bit of line to Sheringham which also saw me East Anglia fully. I took in the Whiskey train on the Spa Valley railway with people from work as well. Oh what a good day!.
The wife and I visited Chepstow Castle for the day but I had cleared that line a while ago. Then at the end of August I did a day trip to the Tyne & Wear Metro and cleared it all despite train delays on it. 1711 miles in just a month.

I managed to only travel for 718 miles in September but I also managed a bit of cl.379 haulage. Those units are looking pretty good.
In early October I decided that one of the trips I wanted to get done was, on paper, easy. Simply the route is: London - Edinburgh - North Berwick - Edinburgh - Tweedbank - Edinburgh - London. 928 miles later it was done and it all ran smoothly.
The next day it was off to Exeter St. David's. another early start and 451 miles later the Exmouth and Okehampton branch lines were ticked off.

I planned a trip to do the Bidston line in Early November but due to a storm I ended up getting as far as Crewe before turning back for home. Bitterly disappointing at the time but at the end of November I did finally clear off that line and also the Wrexham to Chester line. I also wanted to try and beat my 2023 but a few things had got in the way so I'll plan that in for next year.

So what new lines did I actually clear.

So what of my 2026 plans?

I have the following trips planned (hope I can do some of these) but without any dates in mind:
